Huber successfully navigates a volatile business environment and continually evaluates its portfolio thanks to the leadership and guidance of Huber’s Board of Directors.

Their efforts were recognized with the Private Board Company of the Year Award, bestowed by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) New Jersey Chapter as part of its inaugural Director of the Year Awards ceremony on May 9 in West Orange.

The award honors the directors of a private company board that includes outside directors, who demonstrate independence and strong governance leadership in providing guidance to a company through a period of extraordinary growth, crisis or other major developments.

Huber’s Board was one of two governing bodies honored; the Public Board Company of the Year Award went to pharmaceutical company Merck & Co.

Huber President & CEO Mike Marberry accepted the award along with Board members Perry Premdas and Molly Heaney. Representatives of several Huber Corporate functions also attended the event.

“Private companies have their unique challenges and we take corporate governance very seriously,” Marberry said before the gathering of over 300 corporate officials. “At our organization, you’ll see corporate governance practices that are at the same level of excellence as those at a public company.”

The Huber Board includes a majority of outside independent Directors who have a wide range of business leadership experience across a diverse range of industries. Three members of the Huber family also sit on the Board, in a voting position. Each Huber portfolio company has its own dedicated Management Board, also made up of four-to-five independent Directors and an opportunity for one voting Huber family Director.

Huber’s family and corporate governance structures were previously honored with the prestigious IMD-Lombard Odier Global Family Business Award for 2013, the 2018 Kellogg Family Enterprise Leadership Award and a 2018 Family Business of the Year Honoree by the Cox Family Enterprise Center.
