Sustainability at Huber
Our drive to improve today for a better tomorrow goes beyond our products. Huber’s approach to sustainability encompasses the health, safety and well-being of our employees, support for philanthropic causes, and responsible stewardship of the environment, all while maintaining our economic performance. The Huber Principle of Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Sustainability is the driver behind our Sustainability Strategy, which considers the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) dimensions of People, Planet & Profit in how we operate.

Be an admired company and an excellent place to work
Our people set us apart. Cultivating a working environment where they can grow and succeed and work safely are our top priorities. I Belong at Huber, our diversity, equity & inclusion initiative, allows us to attract and retain the best people and build a deep talent pool of future leaders within the company. As part of the Huber Helps approach to community engagement, Huber, its employees and the Huber family share an ongoing commitment to supporting causes related to the environment, education, housing and humanitarian support.
We strive to design out or mitigate exposures that could lead to incidents. Our safety culture does more than reduce injuries—it keeps colleagues communicating and looking out for each other and inspires a shared motivation to improve our overall performance. Engaging employees in safety and environmental objectives and goals means creating awareness not only of what to do, but also why it’s important.
Operate in a way that minimizes our environmental impact
Responsible stewardship of the environment has been a central focus of Huber’s business operations since the 1950s. Over the years, we have developed a wide range of sustainable practices.
After reaching the conclusion of our first five-year comprehensive Sustainability Strategy in 2022, we have a lot to celebrate. Of our 21 manufacturing locations, 11 met our internal Zero Waste to-Landfill threshold, which requires diverting at least 90% of a manufacturing facility’s waste from landfills.
As a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), Huber joins more than 200 international companies working together to achieve net-zero emissions, protect earth’s ecosystems and achieve a more equitable future. Through this network, Huber is able to collaborate with experienced sustainability leaders, furthering the effectiveness of our own sustainability journey. Many of Huber’s businesses are nature-based and employ best practices for waste minimization, positive climate impacts and improved sustainability in agricultural and forestry management practices.
With our WBCSD membership, we seek to further enhance our Environmental, Social, and Corporate governance (ESG) commitments by developing bold and impactful sustainability goals for our upcoming 2033 Integrated Business Strategy. Huber’s new strategy will emphasize putting people first, reducing climate impact, developing products with purpose, accelerating the circular transition and engaging with communities. This includes a transition to renewable energy, and a decarbonization plan covering Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions aligning with science-based targets through innovative technological advances. Huber continually assesses the sustainability performance of our supply chain partners to ensure that we are aligned in People, Planet & Profit objectives.
Deliver customer value and corporate financial strength
Our 140-year history is a testament to our focus on running a sustainable enterprise. Huber’s financial success allows us to continue delivering for our customers and partnering with companies that share our commitment to a TBL approach to doing business. Our corporate structure allows us to create efficiencies through shared services across our portfolio companies. We’ve increased our focus on capital projects and new products with TBL benefits.
Our ability to do well as a company allows us to do good in the community. As part of our ongoing commitment to improving today for a better tomorrow, we have pledged to donate a percentage of our net revenues annually towards helping people and the planet.
What gets measured, gets improved
Our sustainability journey is just that—a journey. There is always the opportunity for continuous improvement along the way.
All Huber sites utilize the Huber S&S Data Management platform, based on Enablon® software, to record, track and analyze performance and share best practices. Creating a culture of gathering and analyzing data has empowered our employees to explore new ways to improve our performance.
New employees face a greater risk of safety incidents. Huber Engineered Materials has leveraged the Data Management system to track and encourage greater contact between leaders and newer employees.
As part of a push to increase user engagement and drive S&S ownership, all Huber Engineered Woods sites have participated in Enablon training so employees can more thoroughly track data and trends such as near hits. The Huber Engineered Woods team in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, uses the software to more thoroughly track water usage, near hits and recordable incident rates.
This balanced TBL approach gives Huber the ability to make every aspect of our business—from our people to our products, our customers, partners and communities—more sustainable, ready today for the challenges of tomorrow.
