Peter Francis
Peter Francis, a fourth-generation Huber family member, joined the Management Board of CP Kelco in August 2023, bringing a wealth of experience in owning and operating family businesses.
Francis previously served as Board Chair, President & CEO of J.M. Huber Corporation. During his 16-year tenure as CEO, from 1994–2009, Huber undertook a major restructuring initiative to focus the company on specialty products. The Company completed over $3.5 billion of transactions in more than 130 separate closings, including the acquisition of CP Kelco in 2004. He joined the Huber Board of Directors in 1990 and held the position of Board Chair from 1993–2008. As Chair, he led the transition to a majority of independent board members, including non-family leadership, as well as the implementation of the Portfolio Management Company structure.
Prior to joining Huber, Francis owned and operated three companies. He lived and worked outside the United States for eight years and held various positions in marketing, engineering, research & development, manufacturing and general management with both large and small businesses.
He is currently Managing Director of MIMCO, LLC, an investment company formed to manage multiple investment partnerships, as well as direct ownership interests in dozens of small businesses and in real estate, leveraged buyout, climate technology and private equity funds.
For over 10 years, he has been a Lecturer in Management on the faculty of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, when he teaches “The Yin and Yang of Family Business Transitions.” This highly interactive course uses role playing to allow students the opportunity to try the tools they learn in class during simulations with visiting guests, all of whom have deep experience with family businesses.
Francis has served on several for-profit and non-profit boards, including the Dover Corporation, a NYSE-listed diversified industrial manufacturer, the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council, Tabor Academy, Rumson Country Day School, New Jersey Institute of Technology and AMS Acquisition Corporation.
Francis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Middlebury College in Vermont and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
