MAGNIFIN products are sold globally by Martinswerk GmbH as part of the HEM Fire Retardant Additives (FRA) strategic business unit, which produces a wide range of halogen-free fire retardants, smoke suppressants and specialty aluminum oxides.

The Rifle, Colorado-based business is a key producer of sodium bicarbonate, also known as baking soda. Natural Soda’s products are complementary to HEM’s diversified portfolio of specialty engineered materials, which includes the production of calcium carbonate products that are used in a variety of health and nutrition applications, as well as construction.

J.M. Huber Corporation and SolAmerica Energy announced today the completion of a 1.8 megawatt (DC), ground-mounted solar array located at the Huber Engineered Materials (HEM) Fire Retardant Additives Marblehead facility in Quincy, Illinois.

The acquisition expands the business’s timber management and forest inventory capabilities worldwide.

The new Huber Engineered Woods (HEW) manufacturing facility will be located on more than 400 acres and will feature some of the most advanced processes and technologies available for sustainable, manufacturing operations. The mill will produce a wide range of products and will significantly increase HEW’s ability to service the Western and Midwestern housing markets.

Huber originally acquired its 50% ownership interest in MAGNIFIN as part of the purchase of the Martinswerk operation from Albemarle in 2016. Based in Breitenau, Austria, MAGNIFIN has been producing and selling premium magnesium hydroxide (MDH) products since 1991.

The La Mirada location, which produces granular calcium carbonate and blends consisting of granulated calcium carbonate and vitamins, will operate as part of the Ground Calcium Carbonate Strategic Business Unit within HEM.
